Event Information

Description

Prerequisite: None. This course is the first step in the certification process for sailors who wish to charter a sailboat someday. It is open to members and non-members.

The ASA 101 course is an opportunity to demonstrate your sailing knowledge and the ability to sail a sloop-rigged keelboat approximately 20-27 feet in length in light to moderate winds and sea conditions in familiar waters without supervision. This course includes classroom training, on the water review and practice, demonstration of sailing maneuvers and a written examination.

Check this link http://asa.com/asa_standards/standard_basic_keelboat_sailing.html to see the complete ASA Standards included in this course.

Note: The above stated hours are a guideline. This class is weather (wind conditions) dependent. As an example, if the wind has been unfavorable for Friday and Saturday and good on Sunday, we may sail Sunday AM, take a break and then go back and sail until sundown. Schedules will vary – the 6 PM ending time is only a guideline. If you have an evening commitment, inform the instructor. We want to give each student as much time as possible at the helm of the boat.

This class includes:
