Topic for this week: Weather According to Lake Mendota

Learn how to use the charts, maps and resources that help weathermen and women predict the forecast. This will help anybody become a better sailor, instructor and all around dryer person! This seminar will aimed at how the geography and weather systems affect the greater Madison lakes.

Georges Sutton is in his fifth year at Hoofers. He raced on the C-Scow circuit in Canada and America for nearly thirty years prior to coming to Hoofers.

Prior to joining the Hoofer's team, Sutton owned and sailed a Catalina 22 on Mendota. He also crewed on a McGregor 242 that raced out of MYC.

Sutton was a certified meteorologist.  While that certification has lapsed, he has spent much of his life looking at the weather, and continuing to learn.

Since global weather is not acting in the manner that it should, Sutton's presentation will focus heavily on Lake Mendota, as well as the topographical features the can drive us all crazy.  Lake Mendota often makes it's OWN weather.

This seminar is a must attend for any sailor who is serious about learning the factors that allow them to sail, and how those factors can change in the span of a two hour day-sail or race.

These classes are stand-alone seminars presented by Hoofer instructors and other Hoofer friends. These are free, and a current membership is not required for winter education, so feel free to invite your friends.
