Description

Event Description: This lesson will review kiting safety and the skills practiced in Kiting A & B and put those skills into practice with the use of skis or a snowboard. Students should come prepared with warm, comfortable clothing. Students will be provided with ice picks to use during the lesson for their safety. Skis and snowboards will not be provided - students should bring their own.

This lesson is subject to cancellation if ice conditions are determined unsafe on the day of the event. Students should check their email day-of for notification of cancellation from their instructor. If the lesson is cancelled, students will be notified by the instructor no less than 2 hours before the lesson is to begin.

Location: This lesson meets at Memorial Union in the Mendota Lodge, across from the Outdoor UW Office in the Hoofer hallway. Kiting will take place on Lake Mendota.

Prerequisites: Winter Kiting B rating, basic proficiency in skiing or snowboarding.

Students who take this lesson will be working toward earning their Winter Kiting Riding (C) rating. It may take several lessons to achieve proficiency in the skills that constitute the rating. Ratings are issued at the discretion of the instructor.
